May I always remember that it was "through
His silence" that He saved me. Isaiah foretold "He was
oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He
was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its
shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth." (Is. 53:7)
We can read in the New Testament where Jesus Christ, the Son of
God fulfilled this prophecy (Matt. 26:47-Matt.28ff; Mark 14:43-Mark
16ff; Luke 22:47-Luke 24ff; John 18-John 20). He was innocent
yet never spoke a word to defend Himself and He did all of this
for me, and anyone who will obey Him (1 Pet. 2:21-25; 1 Pet. 3:18;
1 Pet. 4:1; 1 Jn. 3:5; John 14:15).
Through His Silence I can now approach the throne
of God in prayer (Heb. 4:15-16). He is my Father and will give
me the things that I need just as an earthly father gives to his
children (Gal. 4:1-7; Eph 1:4-6; Matt. 7:7-12). I know longer
live my life for me but for the glory of God (2 Cor. 5:15; Gal.
2:20). My life is now lived as an example for all, showing that
it is Christ who lives in me. I now walk by faith and not by sight,
pressing toward my goal (2 Cor. 5:6-8; Phil. 3:14). I do not walk
according to what that in the world think is correct but by the
instructions that are written in the New Testament. He is my example
and I will pattern my life after Him.
Some in the world think He is silent today but
He speaks through His Word (Heb. 1:1-2). Many think He is not
in control but He is patiently waiting not wanting any to perish
(2 Pet. 3:9). He will not be silent long, his patience will someday
end, and He will keep His promise to His children. The trumpet
will sound and all shall hear and see the Lord coming to Judge
the world (1 Cor. 15:51-53; 1 Thes. 4:15-17; Rev. 1:7). Those
who have not obeyed Him will go into everlasting punishment and
those who have obeyed will receive eternal life (Matt. 5:31-46).
God will wipe away all the tears from His children's eyes; there
will be no more sorrows, and no more death (Rev. 21:3-4).
Because He was silent and suffered the death of
the cross for my sins, I can have eternal life (Matt. 20:28; John
3:16; Rom. 6:8-10). He gave me hope when I had nothing to hope
for. He is my friend, He will not forsake me in my time of need
(John 15:14; Heb.13:5). Worldly friends often forsake us when
we are at our lowest but He will never leave me.
I should not complain (1 Cor. 10:9-11; Phil. 2:13-15)
or worry (Matt. 6:25; Phil. 4:6), He has done everything in my
place. "I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me"
(Phil. 4:13). "Let all the earth keep silence before Him"
and do as He commands, while waiting for Him to return (Hab.2:20).
