Richard Fentiman _______________________ Churches No Longer Available: Financial Support Needed FINANCIAL SUPPORT NEEDED Joshua Lifford joshlifford@gmail.com NEW!!! Dearest Brethren: My name is Joshua Lifford. I am 26 years old. My wife's name is Nicole and my six year old son is Chandler. Neither my wife nor I were raised in the church. Through the influence of my dad's brother, I became a Christian when I was 12. My wife became a Christian in 2004 through my influence. Shortly after my wife's conversion, while I was successfully working in the insurance industry, I realized that I wanted to preach the gospel. My wife is in full support of this decision. I took my early Bible education at the Tri-Cities School of Preaching in east Tennessee. I completed my four year degree with the Theological University of America (http://www.theologicaluofa.com/index.html) from which many of our preachers have graduated, including such men as Rex Turner, James Meadows, Gary Hampton and many, many others. I took my first preaching work in 2006. Since that beginning, I have been with 4 congregations in 2 years with some very stressful circumstances occurring in each place. This has been very frustrating and discouraging to my wife and myself. I was giving serious consideration to going back to secular work when I heard about a preachers mentoring program called Lighting the Fire. Being under the oversight of the Adamsville church of Christ in Adamsville, AL, it is directed by Mike Glenn, a preacher of 38 years experience. It is a program that is designed for the specific purpose of keeping preachers in the work of preaching when they get discouraged. I went to the website, http://lightingthefire.org/, and watched the video. I subsequently contacted Bro. Glenn and then met with him for a lengthy interview about my entering the program to receive the help I need to become an effective preacher. He has accepted me into the Lighting the Fire program. I need your help. To get the benefit from this mentoring, I must move to work as an associate minister where Bro Glenn is working (presently in Grimsley, TN). Therefore, I must raise my salary for two years. My wife and I both love the Lord. We want to do the Lord's work in preaching. We do not want to be another number in the growing percentage of young men who leave the pulpit discouraged. We believe that with the help Bro. Glenn can give us, we will be able to prosper for the Lord. Can you, will you help us with a substantial one-time contribution or with regular monthly support for the next two years? Thank you so much for any help you can give. Please pass this request to other people or congregations you know which might be able and willing to help. See the enclosed letter from Bro. Glenn to further explain this need. Or you may give him a call at 931-210-0530 (cell) or 213-408-0236 (home). Please visit his site www.lightingthefire.org and watch the video as it will help you further understand this wonderful program that we are about to enter. May God bless your efforts, Joshua D. Lifford www.gospelproclaimer.com Dear Brothers: I am writing this letter on behalf of gospel preachers everywhere, So many of them struggle with discouragement. Many of them end up out of the pulpit and back in secular work. There is no shame in doing secular work. But there is a shame when those who love the Lord, who are sound and who trained to for the work of preaching the gospel, end up back in secular work through discouragement. I would like to introduce to you a young man who we can keep from that fate. His name is Joshua Lifford. Please see his enclosed letter so that you might know more about him and his circumstances. Many of you in the southern states who receive this letter will have received one earlier this year from the Adamsville church requesting help with funds for Lighting the Fire. A number of you I contacted over the phone. The need has now become urgent for Joshua Lifford. This young man and his wife love the Lord. They have just been fired from his last work and must be out of the house by the first of July. I have met with them at length as well as corresponded with them. They want to preach, but his early works have each ended quickly and with much stress. I am sure we can help him. To understand how, I encourage you to go to this internet link, www.lightingthefire.org . Please watch the video and read the questions and answers about Lighting the Fire. Joshua and his family need to come work with my wife and I as an associate minister in a mentoring arrangement. To do that, he needs support. But, we just graduated a man from Lighting the Fire who has gone to do mission work in Saipan. During his time with us, we depleted our funds and do not have enough to help Joshua with his support.. We presently have a little over $15,000 in the fund from which a few expenses are taken each month. We need two years support for Joshua. Before he can reasonably move, we need to know that support is coming in. Will you make an immediate and generous one time contribution to help keep this faithful preacher in the pulpit? Then, can you plan to work a regular support into your budget for 2009 to allow him to stay in the program until June of 2010, at which time I believe he will be ready to do a successful work with a congregation. Joshua or I will try to contact many of you by phone, if I have not already, to encourage your decision in this matter. If time keeps us from being able to contact you, I request that you give me a call. Thank you for your time. Iowa is a State of close to 3 million people. 67 of its 99 counties have no congregation of the Lord's church. The Emory church of Christ in Emory, Texas is my supporting congregation, and if anyone would be interested in this work, I would be happy to come to speak to the elders and/or congregation to inform them more of this opportunity. If anyone can help with just $50 per month, it would be much appreciated, or even a one-time contribution.
