Do you think about Jesus Christ every day?
Each day is truly a gift from God, and it is up
to us to cultivate or waste this day, to be productive or destructive
in it.
As Christians, we must resolutely determine that
each day is to be lived for Christ! Do you have fond memories
of the past and remember the "good old days"? Do you
think about the future and what it might hold with anticipation,
or perhaps trepidation?
As much as we relish our precious memories or
look forward to future prospects, the only day we really have
is today, and the only sure moment is now. Occasional glimpses
into the past aren't bad, but we must not live looking backward,
any more than we would drive an automobile a long distance using
only the rearview mirror. As the old saying goes, "Tomorrow
never comes." So we must determine to effectively utilize
today! How do we live for Christ today?
1. LOOK TO CHRIST TODAY! We look to doctors,
lawyers, financiers, teachers, ministers, and friends for various
kinds of assistance, information, and help; but the One Who can
help, advise, and befriend us more than all others is Jesus Christ!
Though we sometimes look to others only to be utterly disappointed,
we can look to the Lord (Micah 7:7) as an ever-present Help and
never-failing Friend in our race of life (Hebrews 12:2).
2. LEARN FROM CHRIST TODAY! As we are
to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly (Colossians 3:16),
we must never get so busy that we neglect God's Word. Only by
reading, studying, and meditating upon the Word can we find true
wisdom to guide us on life's journey. Like an airplane pilot who
cannot see through thick fog and must depend on his instrument
panel to guide him, so we, without even knowing what the future
holds, can march forward fearlessly and victoriously with God's
Word to guide us.
3. LEAN ON CHRIST TODAY! Proverbs 3:5
says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not
unto thine own understanding." Like our memory, our strength
and power can fail us, can't they? Though prominence, prestige,
finances, and friends can all sometimes let us down, we can confidently
lean on Christ, knowing He is with us, before us, beside us, and
in us, enabling us along the way (Psalm 37:40; Philippians 4:13).
4. LOVE AS CHRIST TODAY! As Christ
loved, we are to walk in love (Ephesians 5:2). Love is a little
word but not a little thing. The love of God the Father and Christ
the Son was never more grandly manifested than at Calvary, where
we can behold both the enormity and the demonstration of God's
great love. We can proclaim God's love to all and, by our love
for each other, show that we belong to Jesus (John 13:35).
Christian brother or sister, never let a day pass
without thinking about Jesus Christ. Live for Christ this, and
every, day! -P.O. Box 871, Flatwoods, KY 41139.
