West Virginia School Of Preaching Graduates Five

Denver E. Cooper

On June 17th graduates, many of their family members, and friends gathered for a banquet to honor the graduates. Brother Larry Krause of Kittaning, Pennsylvania, delivered the after dinner address.

On June 18th at 2:30 P.M. the graduation service was conducted from the building of the Hillview Terrace Church of Christ, Moundsville, WV. A good audience assembled to share in the graduation exercise. Preacher Charles Pugh, a WVSOP instructor, welcomed the audience and congratulated them for their support of the students and school. The singing was led by Dave Johnston. Prayers were led by Howard Sole and Walt Masters who serve as elders. The charge to the graduates was delivered by Phil Grear who preaches for the church in Springfield, Ohio. The highlight of Phil's lesson was a brief review of the history of each of the churches in which the graduates would be working. Phil's grandfather, Tom W. Butterfield, and others had previously labored with the churches.

The diplomas were presented by Denver E. Cooper, Director, to Ryan Currey who will serve as associate at the Camden Avenue church in Parkersburg; to Jack Gilchrist who has been employed by the church in Massillon, Ohio, where brother Glen Hawkins ministers; to Preston Mackell, who with his wife Carol moved to Keyser, WV; to Craig Matheny who is employed by the church at Laings, Ohio. Craig, his wife Eugenia, and their two children went to work immediately with the church there. John O'Dell moved to New Lexington, Ohio, to become their preacher. We congratulate each of them for a job well done and pray God's richest blessings on all of them.

Summer is passing rapidly. Orientation Day will be August 14th. Classes for 2005 begin on August 15th. We are looking forward to a good year.
