October 23rd through 27th we conducted our fall
lectureship. The theme was Christian Evidences. Brad Harrub was
the featured speaker, with other preachers from Ohio, Kentucky,
Pennsylvania, and West Virginia participating. Good numbers attended
the daytime meetings. The average attendance for the evening services
was 252. Plans are being laid for 2006 at which time we plan to
use some of the Minor Prophets for our study. Mark your calendar
for October 22 - 26, 2006.
On Tuesday evening a dinner was enjoyed by more
than 150 honoring Gene Carrell a preacher for more than 60 years.
Elders of the Pennsboro, WV, congregation were also honored. Their
wives shared in the festivities. Plaques were presented to the
men; flowers to the ladies.
The first printing of the lectureship book is
sold out. A second printing should be ready in a few days. The
price is $7. Some are ordering a number of copies for class study.
We shall be happy to send whatever number of copies you may desire.
Copies of past lectureship books may be purchased for $3 each.
Classes are going well. Jay Roback and wife Francine
of New York City plan to be here for the January quarter. He was
a Jew by faith, converted by his wife, and taught by others in
the New York area. Teaching others of the Christ became his chief
ambition. We look forward to their being with us. Still others
are enrolling for the 2006 classes.
Please remember that "The harvest truly is
plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord
of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest"
(Matthew 9:37, 38). Look for men or boys with talent who might
be encouraged to preach Christ. Encourage them to prepare for
the great work by coming to WVSOP for two years. We have trained
49 men to preach. We are looking forward to seeing many more go
out in years to come. Won't you help us?
There is always a need for financial support.
Please think about it and plan to send a monthly amount or one-time
gift, if possible. No amount is too small. We will credit it according
to your wish.
Our instructors are experienced, talented men.
They know the Bible. They love to teach others to love it and
preach it. Their greatest reward is the success of those whom
they have taught to declare the "unsearchable riches of Christ."
After a full week of teaching, they fulfill preaching and teaching
obligations in local or over Sunday work, gospel meetings, lectureships,
as well as writing for various publications.
Thank you for your continued financial support,
prayers, and encouragement. When you find an interested, prospective
student, please call us at (304) 845-8001 or write to us at E-mail
