Is That Your Final Answer?

Eugene L. Conger

The question above is always asked by Regis Philben on the TV show, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire." It would be good to ask this question regarding Bible matters. Rather than question or even doubt God's Word, we need to accept whatever the Lord has said.

David said, in Psalm 119:89, "For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." The Bible is God's final word. "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the world." Hebrews 1:1-2. Also, read Hebrews 6:13-18.

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." Matthew 24:35. "But the word of the Lord will endure for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." 1 Peter 1:25. Other verses could be cited which make it clear that God's Word is final. I pray that men and women will accept His word. We must accept and hear His word. "While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him." Matthew 17:5. "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity." 2 Timothy 2:19.

"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:11. Let us build on the true and sure foundation, otherwise we will fall. Jesus stated this so clearly in Matthew 7:24-27. It is tragic that so many continue to look elsewhere for the right answers to life's problems. The Bible contains the answers to every problem we face in this life.

"My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me." John 10:27. The Lord calls upon sinners to hear His word, believe in Him as the Savior, repent of their sins, confess their faith in Him, and be baptized for the remission of sins. John 8:24; Acts 2:38; 8:37; 22:16. The plan of salvation is so plain and so simple to be understood. Man has muddied the water, so to speak. The New Testament presents to us the truth regarding the church, the plan of salvation, the worship of the church, and how to live the Christian life.

May we humbly accept the truth and walk in His steps. This is the final answer to all of our problems. P.O. Box 427, Elizabeth, WV 26143.
