Where did we ever get the idea that the heavens
and the earth and all things therein were created in six days?
Where did we ever get the idea that seven days make up one week
of time? The answer, of course, is the Bible. The Bible declares,
clearly and emphatically, "In the beginning God created the
heaven and the earth." On the first day, God created light;
on the second day, He created the firmament (heaven) above the
earth; on the third day, He gathered the waters together into
seas, and the dry land appeared. He then created the vegetation
on the earth. On the fourth day, He placed stars, moon, and the
sun in the firmament above the earth; on the fifth day, He created
the animal life of the seas and the air. On the sixth day, He
created the animal life of the earth the land animals. Finally,
on the sixth day, He created man in His own image after His own
likeness. See Genesis, chapters 1 and 2.
Moses, the great man of God, believed the divine
account of creation. He wrote the words of Genesis. He also wrote,
in Exodus 20:11, "For in six days the LORD made heaven and
earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh
day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed
it." Of man and woman, Moses wrote, "In the day that
God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and
female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name
Adam, in the day when they were created." Genesis 5:1, 2.
The Psalmist declared, "By the word of the
LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath
of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an
heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth
fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe
of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood
fast." Psalm 33:6-9.
The Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah,
Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah believed in Moses'
account of the creation. They said, "Thou, even thou, art
LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with
all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the
seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and
the host of heaven worshippeth thee." Nehemiah 9:6.
All of creation was accomplished by and through
the Word. Notice: "In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning
with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not
any thing made that was made." John 1:1-3. Who was this Word?
John said, in verse 14, "And the Word was made flesh, and
dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the
only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
Dear friends, Jesus Christ was the Word. It was
by Him, in the beginning, that all things were made that were
made! God spoke, and it was so! The writer of the book of Hebrews
wrote, "Through faith we understand that the worlds were
framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were
not made of things which do appear." Faith comes from hearing
the Word of God. Romans 10:17. God's people walk by faith. 2 Corinthians
5:7.
How long did God take to create all things? Six
days. Jesus knew that man was created on the sixth day. In Matthew
19:4, Jesus asked, "Have ye not read, that he which made
them at the beginning made them male and female ... ?" When
did God make man male and female? In the beginning. Everything
in creation was made "in the beginning" in the first
six days of time! Where do we read the account of the beginning
of man? In the book of Genesis.
We plead with our readers to take God at His Word.
God did not "create" man through eons of evolution from
a one-celled amoeba. The theory of organic evolution is false
science. It is a Godless, faithless, anti-Biblical theory. Do
not let anyone whether he or she be a PhD college professor, scientist,
or a member of the denominational "clergy" rob you of
your reward through human philosophy or vain deceit. If one can
reject the first page of the Bible, he can and will reject any
and every other page of the Bible. If not, why not? The end will
be eternal destruction. Revelation 22:17-19.
