God is timeless and changeless. Just as God is
unchanging, so His Son Jesus is unchanging. The Bible declares,
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever"
(Hebrews 13:8). Jesus' teachings are matchless, and they are also
timeless. He said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but
my words shall not pass away" (Matthew 24:35). Jesus' words
will judge us "in the last day" (John 12:48). There
are modern day teachers who attempt to make a mere man out of
Jesus. They admit that He really lived and died. They will even
admit that He was a great teacher. However, they deny His Deity,
His virgin birth, the miracles He performed, and His resurrection
from the dead. We must get back to faith in the Christ of the
Bible!
Jesus is the virgin born, Divine Son of God.
It was prophesied that "a virgin" would "conceive
and bear a son" and he would be called "Immanuel,"
meaning "God with us" (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23). This
was fulfilled when the virgin Mary conceived a child of the Holy
Spirit and she gave birth to Jesus, the only begotten Son of God.
Jesus performed many mighty miracles to prove that He was God's
Son. These miracles served for the purpose of producing faith
in Him as the Christ, the Son of God. The apostle John penned,
"And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of
his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are
written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son
of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name"
(cf. John 20:30-31). Jesus' greatest miracle of all, His resurrection
from the dead, declared Him "to be the Son of God with power"
(Romans 1:4).
Jesus is the Savior of mankind. Joseph and
Mary were told to name the child, born of Mary by God, "Jesus:
for he shall save his people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).
In reference to Jesus, John the immerser said to his disciples,
"Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the
world" (John 1:29). Jesus came for the purpose of dying on
a cross as the offering for sin. He is the only one who can save
us. There is no other name that can save but Jesus (cf. Acts 4:12).
He alone has "the words of eternal life" (John 6:68).
Jesus is our High Priest and our advocate.
Jesus was the one who offered Himself as the sacrifice for sin.
Thus, He is not only our High Priest, but He is also the Lamb
of God that was offered to atone for our sins. Being our High
Priest, Jesus ever lives to make intercession unto God for us
(cf. Hebrews 7:25). He is the one and only "mediator"
between God and man (cf. 1 Timothy 2:5). Because we have Jesus
as our High Priest and advocate, as Christians we can "come
boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and
find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).
Jesus is coming again one day to be our Judge.
Jesus decreed He is coming again (cf. John 14:1-3), the angels
declared it (cf. Acts 1:9-11), and the apostles believed in and
taught the second coming of Christ (cf. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18;
2 Thessalonians 1:6-10; 2 Peter 3:10-15). The Scriptures are clear:
Jesus is coming again to be the judge of all of mankind, "We
shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ" (Romans
14:10) "that every one may receive the things done in his
body . . . whether it be good or bad" (2 Corinthians 5:10).
Jesus said, "For the Son of man shall come in the glory of
his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man
according to his works" (Matthew 16:27).
We must get back to the Christ of the Bible.
When Pilate asked the Jews, "What shall I do then with Jesus
which is called Christ?" they cried out, "Let him be
crucified" (Matthew 27:22).
My friend, what will YOU do with Jesus today?
Will you accept and obey Him? Or, will you reject Him? The choice
is yours! -1311 Sanlor Ave West Milton, OH 45383.
