Green Box

Albert E. Farley

Our November issue contained three mistakes that I wish to correct. First, I failed to give credit to brother Charles Dotson of Pennsboro, WV, for his two excellent photographs on page 6 of the elders, deacon, and preacher of the Seth church of Christ and of their building. Second, I failed to print the photograph of Sarah Andrews supplied by brother Bruce Daugherty for his excellent article on page 4 about her early work in Japan. Her picture accompanies his second article about her on page 5 of this issue.

Third, and more importantly, I failed to write my comments clearly enough in the November green box concerning the responsibility of congregations to deal with adult members who sexually abuse children. It was absolutely not my intention to judge the two congregations involved. My purpose was to show the enormity of the sin, to encourage the church everywhere to make sure that these problems be so addressed that guilty ones see their sin and repent, and that the church be strong in keeping itself pure. The glory of God, the protection of the innocent, and the salvation of the guilty depend upon it. I regret that I did not write more clearly.

This issue closes 13 years of publishing this paper. We are thankful to God for His goodness and mercy. I am acutely aware of my failures and weaknesses. I am thankful for all who have borne with me and for those who have helped me to see and to correct my mistakes. We are thankful for all of you who have supported us. Our circulation for the November mailing was 2,677 copies. We solicit your prayers and help in 2007. - Albert.
