I have recently learned that there is a bill before
our Congress (H.R. 1592 / S. 1105) that, if enacted into law,
would make it a crime to preach or teach that homosexual acts
are sin. Under this bill, speaking out against homosexual acts
is classified as a "hate crime," punishable with a fine
and/or a prison sentence. I do not believe such a bill has any
chance of being passed by our Congress at this time. However,
it does indicate, symptomatically, where our nation is, morally.
If we have any doubt as to whether or not homosexual acts are
sin, we need to read the first chapter of the book of Romans in
the New Testament. Our nation and the world, generally does not
want to retain God in its knowledge. Therefore, God is giving
it up to a debased mind, to do those things that are not fitting.
The Lord willing, the elders of the Pennsboro
church of Christ will oversee their 2007 lectureship on the theme,
"The Wrath of God Against All Unrighteousness of Men,"
September 9-12. The teachers will be directing their lessons toward
the very things Paul addressed in Romans, chapter one. I urge
all of our readers to attend these important lectures.
Children of God will continue to obey God rather
than man. Acts 5:29. We know our only hope is in the truth of
Jesus Christ, and we will preach the word in season and out. John
6:66-69; 8:31, 32; 2 Timothy 4:1-8.
