VALDOSTA, GA 31601 I pray this finds you doing
well. I'm doing okay for my age! Except for remembering things.
The good folks here at the Children's Home really look after me.
I am so blessed to be here and have so many looking out for me
24-7! I look forward to the paper every month. You have always
done such a good job and may God keep blessing you so you may
continue ... I still miss Ronald so very much. I get to go to
the cemetery every day if I wish. It is within walking distance
for me and helps me a lot. Betty Stephens, 36 Dennard Dr., Apt.

MARION, OH 43302 - Albert, the Lord's work is
never finished ... yesterday is gone forever, tomorrow may never
come, today is ours. What are we doing with our time? A sobering
question ... Keep preaching the pure gospel through the printed
page and Christ will be glorified! Your brother, Bill -4384 Baer
Rd. (These are precious words, indeed, from my elder brother in
Christ and in the flesh as I observe my 65th birthday. Editor)
PURSLEY, WV We have just completed fifteen months
of labor with the wonderful people of the Pursley church of Christ,
here in Tyler County. When we began our time together in January,
2006, we were having from 15 20 in attendance. Last Sunday we
had 84 with 54 back for the evening service. We are averaging
about 60 70 for Sunday AM worship. Our offerings have grown from
about $275.00 per week to about $900.00. Several have been baptized
and some others have returned who are former members here. The
future is very bright and promising at Pursley. Our building is
fast becoming incapable of meeting our needs, and we have plans
now for renovation and building an addition. Please keep us in
your prayers as this church, which is more than 100 years old,
finds new life and greater purpose. It is a beautiful thing to
observe the power of the gospel and to be a part of a loving,
thriving church ... We are blessed to be a blessing! -Tom Butterfield,

MARTINSBURG, WV - I enjoy reading the WVa Christian
and appreciate the many instructional and inspiring articles by
our brethren. I especially value the article (March 13 issue,
Vol. 14) by Brother George Erwin regarding gambling. I believe
we all should study these scriptures he offers and keep them in
mind as we face the increase of interest in gambling in our state.
He covered the subject in language that is in no way offensive
and that should cause all of us to think. God bless you and all
who give us the WVa Christian. Sincerely, Melba Deitrick, Central
church of Christ.

preacher and one of the elders for the Laurel Hill congregation
for around 40 years. I shall preach at Spring Dale, WV Sundays
April 1 and 8. Then I shall resume part-time at West Union, WV,

VIENNA, WV Yesterday (April 4) marked the final
sessions of the Ohio Valley University Annual Lectureship for
2007. From every indication it was the finest we have experienced
in many years. Daytime attendance far surpassed that of recent
years. All presenters were prepared well, delivered great messages,
and conducted inspiring classes. I heard nothing but praise from
those in attendance, many of whom traveled many miles from distant
states to avail themselves of this wonderful time of study and
fellowship. People came from the deep south, the northeast, the
east coast, and the far west. We sat at the feet of seasoned veterans
and were introduced to some of the most promising, bright, young
scholars among us, many of whom are graduates of OVU. There was
a sweet spirit of love and oneness among all those who came to
learn and to spend time with fellow Christians. It was everything
a true lectureship should be and I'm certainly glad I had an opportunity
to be there throughout. 2008 will be the year, the Lord willing,
we share in the fiftieth annual lectureship and plans are already
under way. The dates are set for April 6-9. Please mark your calendars
now and don't miss this one! -Tom Butterfield, Director of Church
Relations, Ohio Valley University.
