The peace of the world was shaken on December
27 when former Pakistani Prime Minister Bhutto was assassinated
by terrorists. Fighting continues in Afghanistan and Iraq. In
our own country, mall shoppers and families are victims of mass
murderers, and many individuals are murdered on a daily basis.
God reminds us "evil men and seducers shall wax worse and
worse." 2 Timothy 3:13. Who shall deliver us from this present
evil world?
Our work, with this paper, is to publish the message
of peace: peace with God, peace with our fellowman, and peace
within ourselves. May we never forget that our God, Jehovah, is
the God of peace. Philippians 4:9. Jesus Christ is the Prince
of peace. Isaiah 9:6. The church of Christ is the kingdom of peace.
Isaiah 2:1-4. We are called to peace by the gospel of peace. Romans
10:15. Jesus Christ offers the world a peace that passes all understanding.
Philippians 4:7. When He was born, the heavenly host praised God,
saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men." Luke 2:14.
The King of peace said, "Peace I leave with
you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I
unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14:27. When we are born again into the kingdom of God through
faith, repentance, and baptism, the violent events of the world
cannot shatter the peace we have in Christ Jesus. "And let
the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are
called in one body; and be ye thankful." Colossians 3:15.
We begin the New Year with optimism and great
hope. We press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling
of God in Christ Jesus! We invite you to be a part of our effort
by prayer, by faithfully reading each issue, and by helping us
to increase our circulation. Albert.
