For Ladies … From Morning Until Night
Ginny Lallance
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass …Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” –Psalms 37:3, 4, 5 & 7
Ladies, for a while today let us take the first few words from each of the above verses and think about what they are saying to us. Trust in the Lord. Delight thyself also in the Lord. Commit thy way unto the Lord. Rest in the Lord.
Upon awakening, put TRUST in the Lord. Put our trust in the Lord to see us through any difficulty during the day. We recall the passage from Matthew 14:22-23 about the storm when Jesus went to the disciples and told them not to be afraid. Peter took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the stormy waves, and that is when he began to sink. His focus shifted! Upon awakening, ask for God’s help to stay focused, and trust in Him to do just that.
Delight yourself in the Lord. Rejoice at the beauty He has created. The beginning words of Ecclesiastes 3:11 read, “He hath made everything beautiful in his time.” Enjoy the early morning. Let your morning prayer praise Him. Sing a song within your heart. Or, literally sing a song to God. Look about; be delighted with what you see. Give Him the glory! 1 Corinthians 10:31. “Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
Commit your way unto the Lord. As we begin the day, let us set our sights on God’s way. When we commit to doing God’s will, we will serve Him with a happy heart all day long. “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.” Philippians 2:15. Throughout the day, be filled with the fruits of righteousness. Philippians 1:11. We all have days that may be difficult, troublesome with problems, etc., but, then, we remember how just this morning we committed ourselves to doing His will, and He is always there to see us through.
Rest in the Lord. We often sing the hymn about night drawing near. At the close of day, can we fall asleep knowing He watches over us? We put our trust in Him at the beginning of the day so we can do the same as we slumber. We leave any fretting or anxiety upon the threshold of the closing day and enter the door of nighttime calling to mind what is said in 1 Peter 5:7. “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” Only God knows if we will awake to a new day. Christ may return while we sleep. However, should God give us another day, we can awaken refreshed because for the past several hours we rested in the Lord.
Coming to the end of this article, think again about the words: Trust, Delight, Commit, and Rest. Words from the psalmist David but still saying so much to us, yet today! -Route 2 Box 177, Belington, WV 26250 mrmrsl@meer.net
