BUCKHANNON, WV 26201-9325 – River church of Christ celebrated quite a few milestones this past year.On August 8, 2008, Homecoming was celebrated and the building turned 102 years old. We had over 90 in attendance and we had a great time celebrating the return of many past speakers and preachers. We would like to thank every one that took time to come and worship on that special day as well as enjoy an afternoon of food and fun on the church grounds and picnic area.

Vacation Bible School was absolutely amazing this year.We had a record crowd of 99 folks on the first and second day, and 98 folks on Wednesday and 108 folks on Thursday, and, finally, 118 folks squeezed in on Friday. The kids loved the weeklong celebration of “ Fishers of Men” and VBS director, Bob Crawford, from Ohio spent his 14th year in leading our children and adults to God.We had many visitors from the community, and from the Buckhannon, Weston, and Belington areas. The late Gene Carroll started our VBS 24 years ago (10 of it teaching) and his wife Zola has been a cornerstone for us every year as one of the teachers still today. Some of our devoted other teachers this year were Sharon Carr, Sheri Carr, Wanetta Conner, Scott Davis, Karen Davis, and Ronnie Holbert. The last day of Bible school was celebrated by closing out the week with a family picnic on the church grounds. We could not have made it work without the hard work that each and every one displayed. We thank those that stayed behind and cleaned up, as well as those that helped prepare for each day to make this year a success!

We praise God for his blessings and the success we shared this past year and we continue to ask his blessings on the future of River church of Christ. Each year we celebrate Vacation Bible School the last full week of June.Next year will be June 21-25, 2010, so all mark your calendars. Also, our upcoming gospel meeting will be held August 2nd thru August 6 (Sun-Thurs), with brother Roy Pratt from Weston to lead the services. Any inquiries or anyone wishing to attend River church of Christ please feel free to contact Roy Carr at (304)472-1107.
