Give This Letter To Your Friend!

Keith Newell

You are a special person in my life. I wish nothing but the best for you. You most likely realize how important my faith is to me. In fact, we may have talked about God, the Bible, Heaven, and Jesus. You consider me a “good Christian person” even though you may not always agree with me. For these reasons, I am giving you this letter.

It is imperative that I share my knowledge of salvation with you. All I ask is this: please read these words and notice the source. Yes, I am the person giving you this letter, but the gospel plan of salvation written herein comes from God. These simple commands come from His inspired word, the Bible. They are not the doctrine of man nor do they come from a “man-made” creed.

This is the plain and simple plan of salvation that God offers each of us. I believe it with all of my heart, and I have obeyed it as well. Since the blood of Christ has saved me, I want to share the good news with you. I want you to be sure of your salvation. I want you to stand confidently before God and Jesus on judgment day knowing you have done exactly as He has commanded. Please take a few minutes to finish this letter and consider the words you have read.

Romans 10:17 - “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Obviously, if you have not heard the account of Jesus and what He has done for us (offering salvation to all who will believe and obey), then you must begin here. After all, how can one have faith in Jesus if he/she has not learned about Him? We can gain faith in Jesus by reading the Bible.

Next, we must believe the Biblical account of God. Hebrews 11:6 - “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Third, we need to repent from our past way of living. We cannot continue to live in a sinful lifestyle. We are to be special (set apart or “sanctified”) in the sight of God. How can we hear the word, believe it, but continue to live as we always have - not changed. Acts 17:30, 31 - "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 "because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."

Fourth, we must not be ashamed of Jesus and his power to save us. Therefore, we must confess His name. Acts 8:36 - Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized? 37 Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

Upon confessing Jesus, you may then be baptized for the remission of your sins. So often, people are willing to do everything else God asks of them, but refuse to be baptized. Generally, this is because of some false doctrine they have been taught which says, “All you need to do is believe, and you will be saved.” My friend, this is NOT what God says in the Bible (Matthew 7:24-ff). With an open heart, I beg of you to listen to God's word. Mark 16:16 - "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” Also, take the time to read the book of Acts (specifically Acts 2:38, 8:12 & 13, 8:26-39, 10:34-48, 16:14 & 15, 18:8, 19:1-5, 22:1-16). Notice: those converted to Christianity were ALL baptized.

I truly care for you. You are a good-hearted person. I want you to be right with God. Please read the scriptures concerning the gospel plan of salvation. This is God's inspired word - His plan of salvation (not my opinion or some man's false doctrine). Friend, please consider the serious nature of the letter in your hand. Thank you.

Note from the author: We all know “good people” who have not fully obeyed God's word. They are our friends, family, and co-workers. They may think, “I do not need God in my life,” or they may believe a false “man-made” doctrine concerning salvation. Possibly, you have tried to teach them the plan of salvation before, but they were not interested. If so, give them this letter. I pray that it will open the door of communication between you and your friend/loved ones, possibly leading them to Christ. -501 Orient Ave., DuBois, PA 15801. coc@dubois.org
