Not Far to a Friend’s House

Lawrence Montgomery

When you think of this world with all its pleasure

Of its glory and riches untold

Naught compares to the wealth of a friendship

For its value outweighs that of gold.

And it’s not very far to a friend’s house

Where there dwells someone both tried and true

And the time that slowly turns to ages

Always brings that friend closer to you.

There are times when this life seems full of trouble

And you feel there’s no place you can turn

That friend brings new strength for your conflict

When you hurt, their heart shares your concern.

In your mind lies a host of precious memories

And some thought brings a smile to you each day

For in life with all its many phases

Good friends place a bit of sunshine there to stay.
