The Pennsboro church of Christ hosted the West Virginia Christian Lectureship in a fine manner September 25-28! The congregation, led by their elders, was gracious in receiving visitors from many areas. The attendance was excellent. The theme, “O How I Love Your Law,” based on Psalm 119, was presented by 22 speakers. Brother Terry Jones, who ably directed the successful week, will write a thorough review of their lectureship in a future article.

The Lord has now given us 12 annual lectureships. We are thankful to Him and to the congregations that have hosted them. The Lord willing, the Steer Creek church of Christ, in Gilmer County, will conduct it next year. Brother Gene Miller will direct it. Dates, theme, topics, and speakers will be announced by them. Pray for them as they prepare for this important effort. I encourage you to plan to attend it if possible.

I was impressed last week when brother Terry described the diligent efforts of the speakers to bring the eternal truths of Psalm 119 to the surface as of “mining” for valuable ore. We, in West Virginia, are well acquainted with the great effort it takes to mine coal – the black “gold” of energy and industry. The Holy Word of God is more valuable than gold! The Psalmist said, “The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.” (72) In verse 127 he said, “Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.”

Dear Reader, how do you value the Law of God? What does it mean to you? It is able to save your soul if you will believe and obey it. James 1:21. The gospel of Christ is the perfect law of liberty. (25) It will judge all of us. (2:12).

With the coming of the fall season, we pray that many will take more time to read and study the Bible and Bible Study materials. Will you help us to send the paper to many more readers? We are thankful for all of your support. Our circulation last month was 2,760 copies. –Albert.
