Green Box

Albert E. Farley

As our teenaged children approach the end of their school year, I would like to address a few words to them and to their parents about the upcoming Prom season.

Regardless of what some may argue to the contrary, honesty demands of us to admit that the modern prom gowns, the dance music and words, the dance movements, the closeness of the dance couples, the atmosphere created for the dance plus the outside activities that often follow the prom are not compatible with Christian values and standards of the gospel of Christ. Even if you try hard to wear decent clothes and refrain from the most explicit dances, you will still be associating with the majority who will not do so.

Please do not follow a multitude to do evil. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. Keep yourself pure. Choose another activity in which you may honor God with your body and spirit. You will be glad you did. Mothers and Fathers, help your children to make the right decision. Provide alternative activities for them. You will be glad you did. Albert.
