Around The State

Albert E. Farley

Change! As our primary presidential candidates give speeches and debate with one another across our nation, one theme seems to stand out above all the others: "We need change!" The large crowds at these political rallies are caught up in the spirit of the time, and they, too, are crying out for change: "Change that we can believe in!"

People today are, basically, no different from what people have always been. Mankind has never been satisfied with the status quo. In the areas of science, exploration, discovery, medicine, economic development, technology, inventions, etc., this unsatisfied desire for something new has led to great advances.

However, in religious, moral, and ethical areas, this unquenchable desire for change has been to man's great ruin and destruction. God said, "For I am the Lord, I change not:" Malachi 3:6. Yet, men have not been content to worship the one true God and have changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man; they have changed the truth of God into a lie. Romans 1:23, 25, 26.

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8. He built His church. Matthew 16:18, 19. He has sent forth His gospel. Mark 16:15-16. He has warned, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Galatians 1:6-10; Revelation 22:18, 19.

Our purpose, with this paper, is to present the one true unchangeable God and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. We hold up and defend the gospel of Christ through the church of Christ, which He has purchased with His own blood. We invite and strongly encourage you to join with us. We commend this issue of the paper to you and pray it will be beneficial. Albert.
