The articles in the April 2009 issue of the West Virginia Christian and especially the comments you made at the bottom of page 1 are reminders to us of the urgency to be about our Father’s business. It seems many choose to ignore the call to sow the seed and they wonder why there is no growth. We have lost something vital during the last fifty or so years. An Opportunity to Help in Costa Rica

It has been my privilege for the past two years to work with brother Gilbert Astorga in mission campaigns in Costa Rica. Brother Astorga is a dedicated servant of God who is currently working fulltime with the church in Alejuela. He and his dedicated family are much loved and respected among the churches in Costa Rica. His son, Joshua, has been our translator on both trips.
The church in Alejuela is a congregation of about fifty, meeting in a small room under a house. They are paying $300 per month for this facility, which is not at all adequate, but they lack the funds for a larger building. They desperately need classroom space. It would take $25,000 to make down payment on a suitable facility. They could then use current $300 rent as a payment on their own building. They are working hard themselves to provide this building and have saved $13,000 on their own. Several of us who know Gilbert have committed ourselves to raising the remaining $12,000 by December 31, 2009. This will allow us to take the money to them when we return to Costa Rica next January. We would appreciate your help with this effort if possible. The elders of the Alkire Rd. church in Grove City, OH have agreed to oversee this effort.
