Be Reconciled To God

Vernon Kerns

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:19. From times eternal, God purposed to reconcile man to Himself. He worked through the ages to fulfill His plan.

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21. Jesus bore the sins of the world on the cross and received condemnation for those sins. While hanging on the cross, Jesus cried, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Matthew 27:46. In Christ, God punished sin so that through Christ He could bring people to Him.

In Christ, we have:

Eternal life. “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:11-12

All spiritual blessings. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3

Redemption. “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” Ephesians 1:7

Grace. “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:1

No condemnation. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

In conclusion, “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:30. This reconciliation is complete in Jesus and cannot be accessed outside of Him. “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” Galatians 3:26-27. -2259 Tanner Fork Road, Shock, WV 26638. 304-364-5460.
