The Roberts-Cole Debate Book

Charles and Constance Perry, of Ripley, WV, presented an original edition of THE ROBERTS-COLE DEBATE to brother Farley during the 12th Annual West Virginia Christian Lectureship at Pennsboro in September. This debate was between W. G. Roberts, a member of the church of Christ in Mattoon, Illinois, and Columbus Cole, a member of the Regular Baptist Church. It was held at Kenova, WV in May, 1936. Arnold Perry, Jr., who had been a member of the Baptist church but who had, earlier, become a member of the Lord’s church, published this book and wrote the Introduction in it. Sister Perry wrote, “This book was passed down to me from my grandfather, Charles Henry Perry, who attended this debate.” Sister Perry decided to donate this book after reading the excellent articles in the August and October issues of the WVC, written by Bruce Daugherty, concerning the importance of preserving the older papers and books that were written by our brethren of the past several centuries. -Editor
