Our Blessings, Our Influence

Naomi Wilmoth Carr

In Proverbs 22:6, we read, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Then, in Psalm 127: 3-5, we read of the blessing of having children. Verse 4 speaks of our influence on them.

These verses always make me think of my maternal grandparents, Roy and Madge Everson. They brought 17 children into this world. My Grandfather lost his hand in a sawmill accident soon after they were married, and, still, he worked in the coal mines, the timber industry, and farming.

My Grandparents were faithful members of the Lord’s church when they passed from this life, and this is such a blessing and a comfort to their children and grandchildren. Of those family members who are alive, there are: 8 children, 2 daughters-in-law, 50 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren, 100 great-great grandchildren, and 9 great-great-great grandchildren!

The influence of this amazing family is felt in several states in this country and also overseas.

My cousins and I have put together a book. It is entitled, “I Recollect” A Collection of Memories from Three Generations of Eversons.

This book makes for an interesting read to those who enjoy family history accounts and the nostalgia of growing up in the decades of the 30’s through the 70’s and beyond.

We started out to produce a book just for members of the Everson family, but, because of the interest shown by our extended families and friends, we have decided to make the book available for purchase through Amazon.com and Barnes and Nobel.com. Use the title and ISBN 978-0-9829687-2-7 when doing an online search at either of these companies. -1017 20th St., Vienna, WV 26105.
